Job Summary/Basic Function:

We invite applications for a tenure-track assistant professor who will contribute to the health data analytics emphasis in our undergraduate and graduate curricula. Candidates should have a multidisciplinary background and have the credentials to teach courses in: analytics (descriptive, diagnostic, predictive and prescriptive), data visualization, data management, introduction to programming, data, and both introductory and advanced statistics within a public and population health setting.These programs train students in contemporary quantitative and analytical methods to be able to work in increasingly transdisciplinary public and population health science fields. Students are further trained to keep up with the rapidly expanding dataverse, have the requisite technological skills necessary, and be able to handle various aspects of data management. The program’s emphasis is on working with local and state partners to make data-driven decisions and to design/deliver/evaluate data-driven programming meant to enhance the health and wellbeing of individuals, families, priority groups, and the community-at-large. This position involves teaching effectiveness, professional development, research and scholarly/creative activities, institutional service, professional and community service, student mentoring, and other responsibilities as assigned.

This 9 month, tenure track position will be working on campus and possess the ability to work and teach remotely if circumstances dictate. Some evenings/weekends may be included, depending on assigned workload.

Essential Functions:
  • Provide effective instruction and mentoring to students.
  • Conduct research, publish peer-reviewed articles, give peer-reviewed professional presentations, and disseminate/translate findings to the community at large.
  • Participate in service at the university, within the profession, and in the community.
  • Create a welcoming environment for diverse students by demonstrating cultural competency and a commitment to inclusion.
  • Develop and maintain collegial working relationships with others.
  • Participate in curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation of educational programs.
  • Apply appropriate policies and regulations within the university, college, and school.
  • Participate in activities promoting personal and professional growth.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • This position is a Tenure Track and requires a doctoral degree in data analytics, statistics, epidemiology, or related discipline is required. 

  • A defined research agenda and evidence of a scholarly record or evidence of potential for developing a clear research agenda and sustained publication record.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate or graduate level teaching experience.

  • Online or hybrid teaching experience.

  • Expertise in R and Excel/Google Sheets.

Salary and Benefits:

Salary ranges from $65,000 to $75,000 (9 month contract).
