Job Summary/Basic Function:

Responsible for internal and external communications (including main website content and social marketing), media relations and events support. Determines content topics, coordinates with others to obtain information, writes, edits, designs and sends to students, parents, and all school district personnel. Prepares and supervises the production of press releases, announcements, brochures, event materials, photographs, newsletters, etc.

This position may have the opportunity to work hybrid where a mix of in-person work from a Boise State worksite and an alternative work location (within the state of Idaho) is utilized. Candidates must be able to work on-site as needed.

Our collaborative teams expand student access and improve student success with innovative programs that reach across our metropolitan area, Idaho and beyond. The Concurrent Enrollment (CE) program manages the delivery of university classes to high school campuses in the Treasure Valley and surrounding areas. High school students are able to enroll in approved classes for both high school and university credit with the Advanced Opportunities state funding. The CE team supports the Boise State University academic departments and partner high schools. The team provides continued educational guidance for parents about higher education opportunities. Boise State’s CE program is nationally accredited and offers quality university classes to help students get a head start on their college career.

Level Scope:

Fully competent and productive professional contributor who applies acquired job skills, policies, and procedures to complete substantive assignments/projects/tasks of moderate scope and complexity. Works independently with general supervision; exercises judgment within defined guidelines and practices to determine appropriate action. May provide guidance and assistance to entry level professionals and/or support employees. Typically hold a Bachelor’s Degree and 2 years of professional experience or equivalent relevant experience.

Essential Functions:

● Determines news-worthy stories, website and social media content, and which distribution strategies to implement.
● Develops, organizes and executes public relations events for the specified department.
● Leverage analytics and reports to determine effectiveness and seek continual improvements of marketing and communication initiatives.
● Write, edit and coordinate distribution of information to market, promote and increase visibility of initiatives and accomplishments of the specific department.
● Responsible for training all web content providers and serve as the main point of contact for problems, questions and concerns regarding the website.
● Manage internal and external communications to project a positive image for the specified department.
● May supervise staff or have leadwork responsibilities.
● Leads and manages communication and outreach projects including working with graphic designers and vendors to produce pieces in web, print and video
● Creates content such as handouts, video script, press releases, website content
● Creates and executes appropriate marketing plans
● Determines news-worthy stories and website content
● Manages email client software for outreach to external and internal stakeholders
● Develops and distributes communication with program updates to concurrent enrollment instructors, school administrators and students and parents determined by department needs
● Assist with concurrent enrollment registration presentations in the Fall and Spring
● Works closely with the Extended Studies marketing and communications team to manage consistent and holistic communications strategy, including creating and updating print materials, and overseeing regular outreach with timely program information
● May perform other duties as needed.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

● Excellent grammar, composition, and proofreading skills.
● Advanced knowledge of design and publishing concepts.
● Excellent organizational skills and superior attention to detail.
● Knowledge of graphic design and software applications.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent and 2 years experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

● Three years experience in marketing, communications and/or journalism role.
● Experience with video production and editing.
● Working knowledge of style guides and experience managing organizational branding.

Salary and Benefits:
