Job Summary/Basic Function:

This position is responsible for managing and improving all internal business operations, oversee employee activity and ensure a department is on track to meet its financial goals. Develop annual scope of work and manage progress throughout the year. Takes on special projects and coordinates completion.

Department Overview:

CI+D both incubates new academic programs for Boise State University and coordinates/leads strategic innovation initiatives for the President’s Office and campus at large.

CI+D identifies emerging areas of innovation on campus and in the modern workplace, ensuring that Boise State University students receive the most dynamic, applied, and relevant educational experiences Idaho has to offer. Especially focused on programs at the nexus of creativity, design thinking, digital skills, and entrepreneurialism, our students leave the university with the tools they need to build the life they want.

We also nourish faculty and staff excellence throughout the university. Our colleagues bring their genius, leadership, and expertise to building a university focused on creative problem solving, collaboration, and community building. We use our resources to support them.

Level Scope:

Fully competent and productive professional contributor who applies acquired job skills, policies, and procedures to complete substantive assignments/projects/tasks of moderate scope and complexity. works independently with general supervision; exercises judgement within defined guidelines and practices to determine appropriate action. May provide guidance and assistance to entry level professionals and/or support employees.

Essential Functions:

60% of Time the Business Operations Manager must:
● Supervises development and implementation of business forms, documents and web forms. Develops, modifies, and implements policies, rules, and procedures.
● Directs the reporting functions of the unit. May serve as the lead for special projects as assigned. Establishes and maintains internal policies and procedures for administrative activities. Implements work plans and initiatives.
● Creates and manages budget projections, analyzing revenue and expenditures and other funds. Oversees the management and coordination of all fiscal reporting activities.
● Collaborates with staff and faculty and other administrative units to identify opportunities and develop solutions to problems and issues.
● Frequently handles sensitive and/or confidential issues.
● May supervise and direct the work of others
● Research and analyze data for accuracy, trends, and variances to ensure acceptable business practices, procedures and compliance have been followed.

35% of the time:

● Manage financial operations, including reconciling all salary and expenses for the college
● Respond to requests regarding budgetary inquiries.
● Submit appropriate Budget Transfers to cover expenses
● Submit invoices for payment
● Perform Grants Management from pre-award to post-award
● Act as Department Recruitment Manager (DRC)
● Manage hiring process of new employees, adjuncts, GAs and students
● Prepare and submit travel authorizations and expense reports for all employees, and occasional non-employee and student reimbursements
● Support operations and activities for all CI+D initiatives, including the physical CI+D spaces
● Co-leads monthly budget meetings, and interacts with a variety of stakeholders
● Communicate professionally and effectively with departmental staff, campus partners, and external vendors via email, chat, Zoom, and phone to support business operations.

5% Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

● Excellent written and verbal communication skills
● Supervisory experience and leadership skills
● Knowledge of project development and management
● Ability to efficiently follow and implement policies and procedures
● Experience researching and analyzing financial and other reports and compiling information

Minimum Qualifications:

● Bachelor's and 2 years of professional experience or equivalent relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

● Desire to work in an environment of constant change and problem-solve creative solutions to hard problems.
Salary and Benefits:
