The Associate Dean of Research in the College of Health Sciences (COHS) at Boise State University is a pivotal leadership role designed to elevate the college's research agenda and support its faculty in advancing impactful health-related scholarship. We are seeking a dynamic leader who thrives leading, collaboration, strategic growth, and fostering interdisciplinary partnerships both within and outside the university.

The ideal candidate will have significant experience in securing and effectively managing external funding, including federal agencies like the National Institute of Health (NIH)National Science Foundation (NSF), and the Department of Defense (DoD) health research programs, and a successful track record to demonstrate an ability to grow and support research initiatives across a range of health disciplines. This role involves faculty development, grant proposal development supporting effective  grant administration, and driving the strategic direction of research efforts in partnership with clinical, academic, and industry leaders.

This position requires someone with a deep understanding of clinical and translational research and a ability to pair COHS with other colleges, units, and external partners to expand research opportunities. The successful candidate will bring experience in advancing research agendas for centers or institutes and will lead efforts to build a strong research culture across the college.

Minimum/Required Qualifications:

  • A PhD or equivalent in a relevant health sciences field.
  • Current status as tenured faculty member at the Associate Professor or Professor level.
  • Demonstrated success in securing and managing external research funding, particularly from NIH, NSF, DoD, or other federal agencies.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated ability to build interdisciplinary partnerships within a university and with external organizations.
  • Strong track record in clinical and translational research or a deep understanding of the area.
  • Experience with research sponsored projects administration.
  • Proven ability to foster faculty development and mentor junior researchers.
  • Experience leading or developing research agendas for a college, schools,  center, institute, or similar entity.
  • Experience with faculty development and advancing the research success of diverse teams.
  • Experience with negotiation and collaboration with state agencies and healthcare organizations.
  • Strong understanding of strategic growth in research, including the ability to align research priorities with institutional and external opportunities.

  • A brief research proposal or project summary that demonstrates experience as a principal investigator with a statement or philosophy of building research within a college (e.g., steps to consider).

Salary and Benefits:

Salary $150,000 (10 month contract) and an 11 or 12 month contract is negotiable.
