Job Summary/Basic Function: |
Boise State University - High School Equivalency Program (HEP) is a federally funded program administered by the U.S. Department of Education - Office of Migrant Education (OME). HEP assists migratory and seasonal farmworkers and their children who are 16 years of age or older obtain a General Educational Development (GED) certificate or the state equivalent to a high school diploma and subsequently to gain employment in a career position or the military or entry into postsecondary education. The GED Teacher/Advisor is responsible for providing GED instruction and supportive activities for HEP participants which will enable them to pass their GED tests and develop post-GED plans. This is a 10-month appointment working 32 hours a week. |

Works on developmental assignments that are initially routine in nature, requiring limited judgment and decision making. This level is typically focused on self development. Requires theoretical knowledge through specific education and training. |
Essential Functions: |
● Provide GED subject instruction in English and Spanish to HEP students in order to ensure successful completion of GED requirements (language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies). Provide individual or group instruction via face-to-face and virtual classes. ● Collaborate with HEP staff and other instructors in developing curriculum, instruction, and personal and career development activities for on and off-campus students. |
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: |
● Ability to develop and deliver instruction to support student attainment of the Idaho High School Equivalency Credential via passing the GED exams. |
Minimum Qualifications: |
● Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent relevant professional experience. |
Preferred Qualifications: |
● Bachelor's degree in Education or related field. |
Salary and Benefits: |
