Job Summary/Basic Function:

The director provides overall direction for Boise State Professional and Continuing Education (PACE), including strategic vision and leadership of PACE staff and trainers.

Level Scope:

Spends the majority of time (50% or more) achieving organizational objectives through the coordinated achievements of subordinate staff. Manages experienced professionals who exercise latitude and independence in assignments. Establishes departmental goals and objectives, functions with autonomy. Manages the accountability and stewardship of human, financial, and often physical resources in compliance with departmental and campus wide goals and objectives. Ensures subordinate supervisors and professionals adhere to defined internal controls with a focus on policy and strategy implementation. Manages systems and procedures to protect departmental assets and requires practical knowledge in leading and managing the execution of processes, projects and tactics within one area.

Essential Functions:

● Oversee development and implementation of professional development programs for professional audiences.
● Establish program goals.
● Monitor day-to-day program delivery and act as the initial contact for clients on matters of curriculum development and program evaluation.
● Establish revenue targets. Monitor revenue and expenditures to maintain a balanced budget.
● Play an active role in developing clients and selling PACE programs and services.
● Make hiring decisions, conduct performance evaluations and approve schedules and work assignments.
● Lead campus efforts associated with PACE partnership model including partnership cultivation with colleges and identification of appropriate campus Subject Matter Experts to respond to and develop specialized content for internal/external clients.
● Recruit and vet instructors for both contract and open-access public programs. This may include both academic faculty and/or external experts and practitioners.
● Teaching noncredit professional development courses (approximately 20% of the workload).

o This hands-on involvement is crucial for maintaining a strong understanding of adult learning principles and staying abreast of contemporary business trends that inform PACE’s offerings.

● May perform other duties as needed.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

● Experience directing a large program and managing multiple priorities.
● Ability to perform as the strategic leader and decision maker.
● Experience with managing, coaching and mentoring staff.
● Experience with adult learning theory as well as teaching adults.
● Ability to engage with stakeholders, including, university, HR directors, and C-suite leaders.
● Demonstrates professional and customer service focus.
● Ability to analyze data and make budget and enrollment forecasts.
● Experience developing and managing budgets.
● Knowledge of marketing, instructional design, consultative sales, and client relationship management.
● Requires use/operation of the following computer software: Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Knowledge of relationship management software such as Aceware is a plus.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent plus 7 years of relevant experience, including 3 managerial experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's Degree and 8 years of professional relevant experience, including 5 years of managerial experience.

2 years of experience working in a Professional and Continuing Education setting.

Salary and Benefits:
 
Salary range is $95,784 - $108,097.60 annually and is commensurate with experience. Boise State University provides a best-in-class benefits package, including (but not limited to):
