Job Summary/Basic Function:

Performs moderate level customer service tasks for events

This position is Part - time, Temporary.

Department Overview:

Boise State University's Public Safety team includes campus safety, emergency management,
transportation and parking, and integrated security technology. Our group focuses on safety
through proactive community outreach. Learn new skills, develop and support your existing
knowledge and help support student success.

Level Scope:

Applies basic skills while developing some specialized skills in procedures, operations, techniques, tools, materials, and/or equipment appropriate to area of specialization; performs routine and/or repetitive tasks; limited decision making required; generally works under close supervision; has no or limited experience; work is performed from within specific limits of established procedures and/or defined instructions.

Essential Functions:

Event Parking Worker 1 will:
● Perform moderate level event support functions using independent judgement in applying existing policies and procedures to complete assignments.
● Control backstage access. Admit or deny entry
● Resolve basic patron disputes
● May perform first level functions for security or technical functions such as basic stagehand or maintenance functions

● Provides security/safety functions for campus by observing surroundings and situations and reporting hazardous conditions;
● Reports suspicious persons or incidents, traffic accidents, and other activities to proper officials or immediate supervisor;
● Handles (takes) money in the field;
● Refers all patron disputes and incidents to higher level workers.
● Assists in vehicle towing or impoundment;

Campus Security Authority: This position is identified as a “Campus Security Authority (CSA)” per the federal law known as the Clery Act. Per this law, the employee is required to report any crimes that he/she becomes aware of to the Clery Compliance Officer. Additionally, CSAs are required to complete annual training prescribed by the Clery Compliance Officer.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

● Knowledge of relevant policies, procedures pertaining to events
● Ability to perform a variety of event functions
● Ability to convey information effectively to patrons
● Ability to work as a team member

Minimum Qualifications:

Previous customer service event worker experience. Sufficient speech and hearing acuity to perform customer service work.

Preferred Qualifications:

● High school diploma or equivalent
● All Majors welcome
