Job Summary/Basic Function:

To perform journeyman-level rough and finish carpentry in the alteration and construction of buildings, cabinets, and specialty wood items; perform related work.

Level Scope:

Applies skills and job knowledge in area of specialization; may adapt procedures, operations, techniques, tools, materials, and/or equipment to meet needs of area of specialization; may work on non-routine tasks; resolves issues/makes working decisions within area of specialization or responsibility with minimal supervision.

Essential Functions:

● Perform rough and finish carpentry including building additions and remodels, cabinets, tables, chairs, therapeutic appliances, and specialty wood products. Build and patch roofs; install floor and wall coverings and hardware; repair doors, walls, ceilings, and furniture; install door jambs; hang and finish drywall and walls; repair/replace railings, handrails, stair treads, nosings and gratings; build platforms, podiums, partitions, ramps, and fences; read plans, blueprints, and specifications; excavate, build forms, and pour and finish concrete; install insulation and weather stripping; may paint, stain, and restore finishes.
● Plan and design jobs after consultation; estimate costs of material and labor.
● Maintain and repair machinery; clean respective work areas.
● Train others in carpentry work; assist other maintenance and crafts staff; respond to emergency call back.
● Accurately tracking time and providing daily comments using a CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) to ensure efficient work management and documentation.
● Will perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

● Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction or repair of buildings and other structures and items.
● Ability to inspect equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors of other problems or defects.
● Ability to work comfortably at elevated heights such as; roofs, lifts, etc.

Minimum Qualifications:

Experience: performing rough and finish carpentry; performing new and remodel masonry, concrete, and wood construction; using and maintaining the tools and equipment associated with journey-level carpentry work; ensuring safety practices are followed on carpentry job sites; estimating time and materials needed for carpentry related jobs; visualizing, sketching, and designing wood projects; reading and interpreting blueprints.

This position requires the incumbent to possess a valid driver's license.

Salary of $20.25/per hour.
