Job Summary/Basic Function:

Oversee the Public Health Vaccination Clinic which administers vaccines. Vaccines are largely given by student nurses which require oversight by a Registered Nurse.

Department Overview:

The health and safety of the greater Boise community is the Public Health Vaccination Clinic's top priority. We aim to promote better health at Boise State and our surrounding community. We are committed to helping stop the spread of infectious diseases. Our department is looking for a temporary, non-benefit eligible, part-time, Registered Nurse who would ideally be free on Thursdays and Fridays. We tend to be busiest in the fall and winter with limited hours in the spring and summer.

Level Scope:

Fully competent and productive professional contributor who applies acquired job skills, policies, and procedures to complete substantive assignments/projects/tasks of moderate scope and complexity. Works independently with general supervision; exercises judgment within defined guidelines and practices to determine appropriate action. May provide guidance and assistance to entry level professionals and/or support employee.

Essential Functions:
  • Maintain accurate, detailed reports and records.
  • Administer vaccines to patients and monitor patients for reactions or side effects.
  • Oversee student nurses.
  • Oversee supply ordering and vaccine inventory.
  • Track student training records to ensure excellent patient care.
  • Help with blood draws for campus athletes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
  • Knowledge of vaccine administration.
  • Ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand. Spanish language skills are a plus.
  • Able to monitor for adverse vaccine reactions and administer care as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree, licensed in the state of Idaho as a Registered Nurse, and 2 years of professional experience or equivalent relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Must be available to work Thursdays (non-negotiable) and Fridays.

Salary commensurate with experience. This position is non-benefit eligible.
