Job Summary/Basic Function:

The Slate Project and UX Manager is a key leader in planning, executing, and delivering Slate CRM initiatives, driving projects that enhance operational efficiency and user satisfaction for students and staff. This position is fully remote within the Treasure Valley in Idaho, with the requirement to attend in-person meetings on Boise State’s campus as needed. Reporting to the Senior Associate Director of Admissions, this role expertly manages development projects and ensures that every aspect of Slate—from forms and portals to back-end interfaces—meets high standards of usability and functionality. Combining technical project management with thoughtful UX design, the position collaborates with university stakeholders to align Slate CRM efforts with academic and operational goals. Additionally, the role upholds best practices in data security and fosters a seamless, intuitive environment that supports the mission of both the department and the university. As a main point of contact for CRM-related projects, the Slate Project and UX Manager coordinates across technical teams, university stakeholders, and leadership to deliver high-quality outcomes.

Department Overview:

As the Slate CRM Project and UX Manager, you'll become an essential part of the Admissions and New Student Programs team at Boise State University. This department encompasses three core areas: New Student Programs, Recruitment and Campus Visits, and Operations and Systems. We are dedicated to the recruitment, admission, and seamless onboarding of students.
While this role is part of the Operations and Systems team, you’ll work closely with all areas within the department and many of our external partners across the broader university. Slate Overview:
Slate CRM is Boise State University's prospective student Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system, designed to manage communication, recruitment, admission, and onboarding processes for prospective students. Slate is utilized across multiple departments to ensure a seamless and personalized experience, guiding prospective students from inquiry through enrollment.

Level Scope:

Fully competent and productive professional contributor who applies acquired job skills, policies, and procedures to complete substantive assignments/projects/tasks of moderate scope and complexity. Works independently with general supervision; exercises judgment within defined guidelines and practices to determine appropriate action. May provide guidance and assistance to entry level professionals and/or support employees.

Essential Functions:

Slate CRM Project Management (50%)

  • Plan, execute, and close CRM and UX-related projects using proven project management methodologies.
  • Develop detailed project plans, including timelines, milestones, resource allocation, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Track project progress and performance, providing regular updates to stakeholders.
  • Serve as the liaison between technical teams, end users, and leadership, ensuring project objectives meet user and organizational needs.
  • Facilitate stakeholder meetings to gather requirements, provide updates, and address concerns.
  • Supervise project team members, providing guidance and ensuring adherence to project timelines and deliverables.
  • Allocate resources effectively to meet project demands
  • Conduct post-project reviews to identify successes and areas for improvement.
  • Maintain and update project documentation, including risk assessments, project charters, and schedules.
  • Develop and maintain a Slate project request process.

Slate User Experience Optimization, Development, and CRM Management (40%)

  • Optimize the user experience across Slate CRM touchpoints, including forms, portals, and applications, ensuring intuitive usability and alignment with institutional branding.
  • Design and maintain user-friendly interfaces, collaborating with Student Affairs and Enrollment Management to meet Boise State’s style guidelines.
  • Develop and manage Slate CRM features, including building and maintaining forms, queries, rules, and other configurations to meet user and organizational needs.
  • Ensure system performance, applying best practices in data security, user data management, and accessibility.
  • Collect and Monitor user feedback and leverage it to drive ongoing system enhancements and improve functionality.
  • Stay updated on Slate releases, UX trends, and CRM management practices to implement innovative solutions and maintain operational excellence.
  • Maintain and update comprehensive documentation on CRM processes, policies, and features to support campus users.
  • Build and run defensive queries to monitor system data health.

Supervision (5%)

  • Hire, train, and supervise one full-time staff member, Program Information Coordinator (PIC), who will be responsible for handling regular testing, maintenance, and cleanup projects in Slate.
  • Ensure the PIC is effectively equipped with the necessary tools, resources, and guidance to succeed in their role.
  • Provide ongoing coaching and professional development opportunities to enhance their skills and productivity.
  • Work collaboratively with the PIC to set clear goals, prioritize tasks, and uphold quality standards in all project deliverables.

Other Duties as Assigned (5%)

  • Participate in Departmental, Divisional, and University events, initiatives and programs
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
  • In-depth knowledge of CRM platforms (e.g., Slate, Salesforce) and their application in project settings.
  • Familiarity with project lifecycle phases, including initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, and closure.
  • Understanding of how CRM functionalities (e.g., data management, workflow automation) to better support project goals.
  • Strong communication skills for engaging stakeholders, facilitating meetings, and ensuring department alignment.
  • Knowledge of UX principles to enhance the usability and visual appeal of Slate CRM interfaces.
  • Ability to analyze project performance and implement continuous improvements based on feedback and data-driven insights.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent plus 2 years relevant professional experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CRM Proficiency: Experience with customer relationship management systems, including basic development and configuration tasks (e.g., Slate CRM or similar).
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Strong communicator capable of engaging effectively with diverse groups, including students, faculty, and staff. Proven collaborator, able to build and maintain relationships across departments.
  • User-Centered Service: Demonstrated ability to meet user needs through responsive support and high-quality documentation.
  • Project Coordination: Foundational knowledge of project management, including coordinating timelines, resources, and deliverables.
  • Problem Solving and Attention to Detail: Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on identifying actionable solutions in collaborative settings. Detail-oriented, ensuring accuracy and quality in all tasks, particularly related to user experience and documentation.
  • Educational Background in UX or Project Management: Bachelor’s degree or certification in UX Design, Project Management, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • Slate CRM Expertise: Experience with Slate CRM in an academic setting, including in the development of forms and portals, and basic query writing.
  • Admissions and Recruitment Experience: Familiarity with the university admissions process, including recruitment cycles.
  • Project Management and UX Design Skills: Proven ability to lead projects from concept to completion using UX design principles to optimize web application interfaces.
  • Technical and Analytical Proficiency: Experience with HTML coding and advanced technical configuration tasks. Strong analytical abilities to interpret feedback and system metrics for continuous improvement.
  • Collaboration and Leadership: Proven ability to foster teamwork and integrate input from multiple stakeholders.
Salary and Benefits:
