Adjunct Opportunities

Thank you for your interest in teaching for us. We are dedicated teachers with a passion for engaging students, supporting our existing undergraduate curriculum, and broadening our cumulative fields of expertise. Adjunct faculty are non-tenure track, contract-based faculty. In addition to teaching opportunities available in the Fall and Spring semesters, there may be opportunities for salary enhancement through summer courses.

We are currently seeking applications for adjunct faculty who are interested in teaching any of the following courses in person at our Boise Main campus in the Fall 2025 semester:

  • PSYC 295 Statistical Methods
  • PSYC 421 Psychological Measurement

Job Description

The Adjunct Faculty member in the Department of Psychological Science is responsible for teaching students in a designated area of specialization. She/he/they attend orientation and have the responsibility of determining grades for course requirements based on course objectives and criteria as defined in the course syllabus.

Essential Functions

  • Demonstrates effective teaching, including timely grading and response to students
  • Maintains expertise in teaching assigned coursework.
  • Applies appropriate, evidence-informed teaching methods.
  • Participates in Program and Department teaching initiatives.
  • Applies appropriate policies and regulations within the University, College, and Department.
  • Develops and maintains positive working relationships with others within the University, College, and Department.
  • Participates in activities promoting personal and professional educational growth.
  • Serves as a professional role model for students.

Minimum Qualifications

A master’s degree in psychology or a very closely related field (e.g., cognitive neuroscience, clinical/counseling psychology, community health, forensic psychology, etc.), teaching experience in higher education, and the ability to teach in-person classes at our Boise Main campus.

Preferred Qualifications

A doctoral degree in psychology or a very closely related field (e.g., cognitive neuroscience, clinical/counseling psychology, community health, forensic psychology, etc.) and two years of teaching experience in higher education.

Compensation

Adjunct professors are compensated based on the number of credits taught in a given semester. Compensation is further broken down by Step 1 and Step 2 pay grade. All adjunct faculty are initially classified as Step 1 and automatically progress to Step 2 after completing their third semester of actively teaching for the department. Adjuncts who do not possess a doctoral degree are ineligible to progress to Step 2. Each semester, the department issues Letters of Appointment (LOA) to adjunct faculty, which reflect classes/credits taught and the total amount of pay.

Pay Grade By Step

  • Step 1 pay per credit – $1,246
  • Step 2 pay per credit – $1,289

High-enrollment Bonus

70 students or more +$50/credit

100 students or more +$100/credit

130 students or more +$150/credit
