Job Summary/Basic Function:

The Senior CRM Marketing Specialist is responsible for leveraging the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software (Slate) to optimize marketing efforts, impacting student outcomes through the entire enrollment funnel. Additionally, they will create and execute marketing campaigns via social media, digital advertising, and the university website both increasing prospective student leads, eventually increasing student enrollments.

Department Overview:

Student Communications and Marketing serves as the voice for the Division of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management, generating creative content and strategy to guide Broncos through every step of their journey.

Level Scope:

Recognized subject matter expert who knows how to apply theory and put it into practice with in-depth understanding of the professional field with limited oversight from managers. Independently performs the full range of responsibilities within the function; requires deep job knowledge of area typically obtained through higher education combined with experience. Manages large projects or processes and problems faced are difficult and often complex; analyzes problems/issues of diverse scope and determines solutions. May manage programs that include formulating strategies and administering policies, processes, and resources; functions with a high degree of autonomy. Influences others regarding policies, practices and procedures. Typically hold a Bachelor’s or Advanced Degree and 5 years of professional experience or equivalent relevant experience.

Essential Functions:

60% of Time the Communications Specialist must:

  • Campaign Creation and Execution: Design and execute targeted marketing campaigns, such as email marketing, social media campaigns, and content marketing initiatives. Work in collaboration with the team content writer to craft messaging and use the CRM to segment audiences, personalize messaging, test campaigns before launch and analyze campaign performance thereafter.
  • Data Management and Analysis: Collect, clean, and analyze lead data stored in the CRM system. This data is used to identify trends, segment students, and personalize marketing campaigns. 
  • Lead Nurturing: Develop and implement lead nurturing strategies to guide potential students through the application process. This involves recommending content strategy, personalized communication, and timely follow-ups.
  • Customer Segmentation: Analyze existing data to identify distinct groups based on demographics, behavior, or other criteria. This segmentation allows for more targeted marketing efforts and improved brand satisfaction.
  • CRM Optimization: Continuously evaluate the CRM system's effectiveness and identify areas for improvement. This may involve recommending new features, training team members, or updating processes.
  • Reporting and Analysis: Update regular reports on marketing performance, including key metrics like open rates, click-through rates, and conversion rates. These reports help measure the effectiveness of marketing initiatives and identify areas for optimization.
  • CRM Ambassador: The CRM Marketing Specialist acts as a bridge between marketing teams and the technical systems team, ensuring that the software is used effectively to drive customer acquisition, retention, and loyalty.

35% of Time the Communications Specialist must:

  • Collaborate closely with campus partners to create compelling copy and curate visuals that drive student engagement and lead conversion.
  • Leverage analytics and reports to determine effectiveness and seek continual improvements of marketing and communication initiatives.
  • Strong knowledge of AP style for composing and editing editorial and promotional content
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to interact with team members, stakeholders, and customers across departments.
  • Demonstrate entrepreneurial leadership and strong problem-solving skills in identifying and implementing innovative solutions.
  • A strong student-centric outlook to prioritize student engagement and client satisfaction.

5% of Time the Communications Specialist Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
  • Minimum of 5 years of established skill in CRM marketing, preferably in Slate.
  • Understanding of industry leading CRM platforms (e.g., Slate, Salesforce, HubSpot) and their features, including contact management, lead scoring, campaign management, and analytics.
  • Skill in writing, creating and implementing targeted content marketing campaigns across multiple channels.
  • Familiarity with marketing automation tools and their integration with CRM systems.
  • Ability to incorporate the use of data analysis techniques (e.g., Looker Studio, Akero, or Excel) to extract insights and make data driven decisions from customer data.
  • Strong knowledge of digital marketing channels (landing pages, email, social media, content marketing) and their best practices.
  • Ability to identify and segment customer groups based on various criteria.
  • Understanding of lead nurturing strategies and tactics.
  • Ability to manage shifting priorities in high volume deadline-driven environment
  • Skill in interpreting marketing data to measure campaign effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree and 5 years experience or equivalent

Salary and Benefits:
 
Salary starting at $63,000 annually and is dependent upon experience experience. Boise State University provides a best-in-class benefits package, including (but not limited to):
