Job Summary/Basic Function:

The multimedia producer will be responsible for the creation, curation and editing of compelling multimedia storytelling content (video, audio, photography, graphic design) for the College of Business and Economics. This position functions as an in-house multimedia expert creating thoughtful content that connects with our community, resonates with prospective and current students and amplifies COBE’s strategic goals and mission as a regional leader in business education.

The ideal candidate is comfortable telling stories in a variety of mediums–with a focus on video and photography. They should have excellent videography, photography, and design skills and have a proven ability to share stories in creative, accessible ways for a variety of audiences, platforms and outcomes. This person will have the opportunity to build the position and function from scratch within an emerging marketing team.

Level Scope:

Fully competent and productive professional contributor who applies acquired job skills, policies, and procedures to complete substantive assignments/projects/tasks of moderate scope and complexity. Works independently with general supervision; exercises judgment within defined guidelines and practices to determine appropriate action. May provide guidance and assistance to entry level professionals and/or support employees.

Essential Functions:

Media Development

65% of the time the Multimedia Specialist must:

  • Produce original multimedia content including video, audio, photography, and graphics that supports COBE marketing and communications campaigns, website, email, and social media while maintaining university branding/graphics standards.
  • Research and develop marketing video features and series, provide initial conception (storyboards, etc.), coordinate shoots, and shoot and edit content.
  • Plan and complete photoshoots for specific marketing efforts and to build COBE photo library, and photograph COBE events.
  • Complete graphic design projects as needed to convey internal and external messaging in advertisements, building posters and displays, social media, and development materials.
  • Project manage multimedia storytelling projects to reach targets, staying on schedule and on budget.
  • Perform usability testing and quality assurance of media elements used across platforms. Ensure media is accessible for all users regardless of abilities.
  • Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders on all aspects of projects, including planning, content, production level and platforms, turnaround time, corrections and approvals.

Media Management and Support

30% of the time the Multimedia Specialist must:

  • Organize and store multimedia assets, keep inventory of equipment, and help maintain equipment.
  • Develop a multimedia calendar that supports other COBE content production schedules and content calendars.
  • Build and manage COBE YouTube channel and other online video promotion efforts with an emphasis on attracting prospective students through search.
  • Leverage analytics to determine the effectiveness of activities and make continual improvements.

5% of the time the Multimedia Specialist must:

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Excellent video, photography, and graphic design skills.
  • Expertise using editing and design software, such as Adobe Creative Suite or emerging tools.
  • Keen understanding of creative content trends and best practices.
  • Experience developing story or creative concepts from the idea stage to launch.
  • Excellent visual/audio/storytelling skills and technical productions and editing craftsmanship.
  • Experience developing innovative uses of multimedia assets for web, social media, email, website and new technologies.
  • Ability to complete and balance multiple projects demonstrating strong conceptual and analytical skills, planning abilities, and sound judgment.
  • Familiarity with current digital best practices and able to learn quickly and adapt to new tools and technologies.
  • Experience creating content that adheres to brand guidelines.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree and 2 years experience or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in videography, photography, journalism, communications, marketing, or a related field.
  • Two years of experience producing video content.
  • Experience in Adobe Creative Suite and other pertinent design, video, and photo editing software.
  • Experience working in higher education.
  • Knowledge of current and emerging market trends and best practices in the higher education industry and beyond.

Salary and Benefits:

Salary range is $58,905.60 to $73,632.00 annually and is commensurate with experience. Boise State University provides a best-in-class benefits package, including (but not limited to):
