This position manages day-to-day activities to ensure the department is running efficiently and meets the expectations and needs of customers and staff. Assists with the management/administrative aspects and has operational control of a range of projects. May work on assignments related to project development and management initiatives, internal operating procedures, business processes and policies.

Housing & Residence Life (HRL) is a department that accommodates approximately 3,000 students and staff across 10 on-campus living communities, which include traditional residence halls, suite-style, and apartment-style housing options. Our department is dedicated to supporting the academic and personal success of our residents. As we continue to grow and evolve, we aim to serve a broad range of students from across the region, including those from rural areas and those who are the first in their families to attend college.

Entry-level professional with limited or no prior experience to contribute on a project or work team. Incumbent learns to use professional concepts to resolve problems of limited scope and complexity under close supervision while achieving day-to-day objectives. Works on developmental assignments that are initially routine in nature, requiring limited judgment and decision making. This level is typically focused on self development. Requires theoretical knowledge through specific education and training.

Essential Functions: |
60% of Time the Business Operations Coordinator must:
- Coordinate and support business operations processes across multiple functions, including human resources, financials, data management, customer service, research support, and communication, ensuring efficiency and compliance with university, state, and federal regulations.
- Direct and oversee customer service operations, supporting departmental mission execution and quality assurance programs; assist in staff recruitment, succession planning, and performance measurement initiatives.
- Serve as liaison and point of contact for internal and external partners, presenting findings, coordinating projects, providing operational updates, and supporting training and onboarding of new staff.
35% of Time the Business Operations Coordinator must:
- Manage financial operations, including maintaining financial records, processing purchase requisitions, travel authorizations, expense reimbursements, internal payments, and vendor contracts using systems such as Oracle Financial Cloud, Excel, and Smartsheet.
- Monitor, reconcile, and audit financial transactions (including procurement cards and fuel invoices), research and resolve discrepancies, determine appropriate cost allocations, and ensure accurate reporting in accordance with institutional guidelines.
- Assist with departmental budget development and monitoring, create ad hoc financial reports and data sets, and maintain financial journals, logs, and ledgers.
- Develop and deliver financial trainings for departmental staff and faculty on topics such as P-Card management, travel procedures, and campus financial policies (e.g., meals and refreshments).
- Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement by monitoring the effectiveness of existing business practices, recommending operational improvements, and tracking the performance of implemented solutions.
- Maintain and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and create user training materials to support consistency, compliance, and continuous process improvement.
- Communicate professionally and effectively with departmental staff, campus partners, and external vendors via email, chat, Zoom, and phone to support business operations.
- Other duties as assigned by the Senior Director of Housing & Residence Life or the Director of Business Operations. This includes but is not limited to at least 40 hours per year for full-time employees dedicated to helping with broad divisional or institutional programs or initiatives that may be outside the department, such as Move-In Day, Welcome Week, Parent & Family Weekend, Bronco Day, Commencement, or other special projects.
5% of Time the Business Operations Coordinator must perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: |
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

Salary and Benefits: |
