This position oversees and supervises the payroll functions of the university, ensuring pay is processed on time, accurately, and in compliance with government regulations. Has operational control of a range of projects. |

Level Scope: |
Provides direct supervision typically to professionals or skilled technical employees at the entry or intermediate level. Functions as an advisor to unit and administration and sets goals and objectives for team members for the achievement of operational results. Analyzes and resolves problems by drawing from prior experiences. Interprets policies (e.g., fiscal management, HR, contracts and grants, resource management in defined areas) and demonstrates solid subject matter knowledge. Exercises judgment within defined procedures and policies to determine appropriate action. Supervises staff to assure accountability and stewardship of campus resources (operational, financial, and human) in compliance with departmental goals and objectives. |
Essential Functions: |
● Implements, maintains, and reviews payroll processing and accounting systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions. |
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: |
● Proficiency in Excel and payroll analysis and reconciliations. |
Minimum Qualifications: |
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent plus 2 years’ experience. |
Preferred Qualifications: |
At least two years of demonstrated experience in applying payroll rules and regulations, with a thorough understanding of accounting systems, payroll tax withholding procedures, and federal and state tax reporting requirements. At least two years of supervisory experience in a payroll department, certification in payroll processing, and experience in a state education system. |
Salary and Benefits: |
