Job Summary/Basic Function:

Responsible for performing coordinative and administrative duties in the facilitation of support for the specified department.

Level Scope:

Fully competent and productive professional contributor who applies acquired job skills, policies, and procedures to complete substantive assignments/projects/tasks of moderate scope and complexity. Works independently with general supervision; exercises judgment within defined guidelines and practices to determine appropriate action. May provide guidance and assistance to entry level professionals and/or support employees.

Essential Functions:

60% of Time the Academic Programs Coord., Sr. must:

  • Contributing to divisional project teams, developing and implementing initiatives emerging from strategic planning.
  • Coordinates, monitors, and implements academic program related activities, following policies and procedures.
  • Coordinates the evaluation of program operations, course offerings, projects, processes, and procedures.
  • Works collaboratively with various university faculty and staff to complete various program related projects in alignment with deadlines.
  • Collects, manages, and edits data for academic program reports.
  • Ensures availability and delivery of support services are provided to the programs.
  • Develop, coordinate, deliver, and evaluate educational programs and training sessions, webinars, presentations, professional development offerings and in-person training.
  • Analyzes data, generates and/or assists with, and disseminates periodic reports.
  • Works collaboratively to set program goals and coordinates the evaluation of program operations, course offerings, projects, processes, and procedures.
  • Responds to requests for information from faculty, staff, students, outside agencies, and community partners.

35% of Time the Academic Programs Coord., Sr. must:

  • Maintains thorough knowledge of all programs offered by the Respiratory Care Department; the 4-year on campus program, the RRT to BS Degree Advancement Program, and the MSRC master program.
  • Ensures enforcement of University Foundational Studies requirements as well as Idaho State Board of Education policies.
  • Trains and mentors the DAP advisor, the DAP faculty advisors, as well as the on-campus program faculty advisors. Ensures that all are apprised of and understand any SBOE or University changes.
  • Acts as the department liaison for other advising hubs across campus including the Online Degree Pathway Office, COHS Student Services and Academic Advising Office, and Advising and Academic Support Center.
  • Analyzes data compiled from both PeopleSoft and MyInsights to track student progress, and to ensure that items such as major declaration, student group, and advisor assignments are accurate and up-to-date.
  • Analyzes enrollment data from MyInsights and other sources so as to provide guidance regarding projected course enrollment.
  • Provides outreach to those students who are not successful in the DAP to see if there is a need not being met.
  • Controls DAP/MSRC course scheduling
  • Controls distribution of department permission numbers
  • Monitors and controls Upay sites.
  • Facilitates the development of articulation agreements with other higher-ed institutions so that students earning an AA/AS or AAS will transition smoothly into the Degree Advancement Program at Boise State.
  • Participates in other advising related activities across campus as needed. This includes but is not limited to recruitment events, information sessions, student orientations, committees and focus groups.
  • Act as administrative staff for the MSRC program. Provide support for potential MSRC students as they navigate through the grad application process to the point of enrollment in the program.
  • Act as DRC and assist with the hiring of Departmental full-time and adjunct faculty and ensure that all proper paperwork is filed with Human Resources (knowledge HCM is required).
  • Manages creation of DAP and MSRC graduation celebration via video and/or mailings
    Supervises the DAP Academic Advisor

5% other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree and 5 years of professional experience or equivalent relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Masters degree, and 3 years experience with online and degree advancement programs.
