Position Overview

The Department of Art, Design, and Visual Studies within the College of Arts and Sciences at Boise State University invites applications for a tenure track Assistant Professor position in the Graphic Design program to begin in August 2024. Boise State’s NASAD-accredited program is the only BFA Graphic Design Degree in the state of Idaho, and primarily serves undergraduates within the Graphic Design program, with opportunities to teach in the Visual Arts Graduate program.

The Department of Art, Design, and Visual Studies is situated in the School of the Arts designed to serve as the vibrant urban hub for the study, practice, and integration of the arts. The School cultivates new models of interdisciplinary innovation, entrepreneurial initiative, and collaborative community engagement in order to prepare artists, designers, and all students to thrive in a diverse world.

Requirements

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with students, faculty, staff, and community from a variety of diverse backgrounds and media areas. An MFA, MGD, MGXD, MDES, or equivalent terminal degree in communication design, visual communication, interaction design, or a related field of study is required. 

Professional practice and teaching experience with a specialization in any of the following areas is preferred: user experience, user interface design, interactive media, hand and/or hybrid processes, design research and history, critical theory, sustainable design, or experimental pedagogy.

Salary ranges from $55,000 to $65,000 (9 month contract)
