The Boise State University Department of Construction Management (CM) seeks to hire a full-time, 9-month tenure track Assistant Professor beginning Fall 2025. The successful candidate will bring innovative scholarship, construction management industry expertise, and technologies to our growing program and contribute to our program’s renowned success. The CM department enjoys an outstanding reputation within the industry and receives strong industry support through an active industry advisory council. This faculty position includes teaching face-to-face undergraduate courses, conducting research and publishing in areas related to construction management, and contributing to the department’s service and outreach activities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The department is committed to offering a high-quality educational experience for students in an academic setting. Teaching responsibilities may include undergraduate courses in the following areas: construction surveying, scheduling, MEP systems, soils & construction equipment, BIM/VDC, and/or statics and mechanics of materials.  The normal teaching load for this position is 6-7 credit hours per semester (typically, 2 courses), depending on department needs.  The successful candidate will have some experience in the US construction industry and be able to bring that experience to the classroom, as well as engage in continuing education to remain up-to-date in the profession. The use of mobile devices and other technologies in the classroom is also expected.

The candidate will be expected to develop a productive research program related to construction management, including grant writing, securing external funding, publishing in peer-reviewed journals, and presenting at academic conferences.  While we aspire to have one, there is currently no graduate program in the CM department, so the successful candidate will be expected to engage undergraduate students in research projects and seek collaboration with graduate students from other related departments for research and mentoring opportunities.

In addition to teaching and scholarship, the candidate will be expected to participate in departmental discussions and decisions related to content, learning outcomes, and pedagogy in the program. The candidate will be expected to mentor students and participate in service activities such as working with student organizations, clubs, and competition teams. The candidate will also be expected to contribute to the department, college, and university through service on committees and participation in professional organizations.  The successful candidate will demonstrate a team-player attitude.
