Job Summary/Basic Function:

Positioned on the Student Outreach and Assistance Team within the Office of the Dean of Students, the Senior Case Manager position provides student-centered case management services to promote the long-term retention of students navigating disruptions that impact their academic progress and coordinates systems of care for students navigating behavioral health crises. This includes collaborating and liaising with campus and community partners to coordinate appropriate interventions/resources for these at-risk students and those who may be impacted. The Senior Case Manager will also be responsible for additional duties to support the administrative needs and training offerings to the campus community.

Level Scope:

Recognized subject matter expert who knows how to apply theory and put it into practice with in-depth understanding of the professional field with limited oversight from managers. Independently performs the full range of responsibilities within the function; requires deep job knowledge of area typically obtained through higher education combined with experience. Manages large projects or processes and problems faced are difficult and often complex; analyzes problems/issues of diverse scope and determines solutions. May manage programs that include formulating strategies and administering policies, processes, and resources; functions with a high degree of autonomy. Influences others regarding policies, practices and procedures.

Essential Functions:

65% of Time the Case Manager must:

  • Provide timely case management interventions to students navigating academic disruptions, including connecting them with campus and community support and resources they may need based on their priority concerns.
  • Provide consultation and coaching to campus and community members responding to
    students experiencing disruptions including concerns for the health and safety of a student.
  • Consult with faculty on an as-needed basis to promote balancing flexibility with
    accountability. Coordinate with academic leaders to help educate about policies, processes, and resources to help mitigate academic impacts of disruptions.
  • Extend case management services to students after a behavioral health hospitalization, after an emergency room visit, or following a traumatic incident.
  • Maintain records of outreach efforts, referrals, and contact of assigned student cases.
  • Serve as liaison between students, providers, faculty, families, advisors and other university personnel when complex issues are impacting student success.

35% of Time the Case Manager must:

  • Assist with managing referrals assigned to the Student Outreach and Assistance Team.
  • Assist with data collection, program evaluation, and statistical reports to track utilization of services.
  • Facilitate skill-based training to campus community members and contribute to the ongoing development of training material to address current research, processes and protocols that promote the safety and wellbeing of students.
  • Perform other duties as assigned as the needs of students evolve
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
  • Experience with suicide screening and crisis response, including best-practices in these areas.
  • Ability to navigate and manage complex situations which affect students, faculty and staff.
  • Strong knowledge in areas of academic policies/procedures, health and wellness, student advocacy, and campus and community support resources.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills that can effectively convey information to individuals at various organizational levels.
  • Knowledge of student security and privacy requirements including FERPA (Family
    Educational Rights and Privacy Act).
  • Demonstrate skills working with individuals and groups with a wide array of identities and life experiences, including gender, disability, class, race/ethnicity, sexuality, culture, and religion when providing services.
  • Ability to work and collaborate successfully with persons, programs, organizations and agencies with distinctly varied missions, goals and objectives.
Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree or Equivalent and five years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preferred clinical or master level licensure in counseling or social work.
Salary and Benefits:
